Catopsis berteroniana, watercolor
Catopsis berteroniana is one of the few species in family Bromeliaceae that is thought to be carnivorous. I saw this particular plant growing on a branch of a mangrove tree when I visited Florida. C. berteroniana stands out among other countless tillansia that were growing side by side, because of its striking lime green almost fluorescent color and the waxy surface. I didn't want to forget the awe I felt when I first saw this plant in the wild, and had to paint to preserve that feeling!
