Habaneria radiata (White Egret Orchid), variegated leaf

$20.00

Habaneria radiata (White Egret Orchid) is not a carnivorous plant, but is a great companion plant for your bog gardens. They can be grown with Sarracenia, Venus fly traps, and temperated sundews. The white flowers bloom in late summer, and look like white egrets in flight. It is quite spectacular! The leaves of this cultivar are variegated, and look gorgeous even without the flowers.

H. radiata is native to Japan, Korea, and China. The flowers and leaves die out during the fall, but start forming corms underground to store energies. Once this happens, store the corms in moist but not damp long fiber sphagnum moss in a cold, but above freezing temperature until Spring. Comes spring, you can plant them at about 1 inch depth in long fiber sphagnum moss : perlite = 2:1. Make sure the medium is airy as corms are prone to rotting.
