Sarracenia X Uzushio

$49.00

Sarracenia are North American pitcher plants. They grow in wetlands in East coast of the United States. S. X Uzushio is a Darwin’s Atelier original hybrid. It is named “Uzushio”, a whirlpool in Japanese, because of its curled up lid and white splashy patterns on the traps that remind of a whirlpool. It is a vigorous grower. You will be receiving a division of a mature rhizome with at least one growth point.

Sarracenia are good companion plants to Venus flytraps as they are often found growing side by side in the wild. Like Venus flytraps, they need a cold dormancy during the winter to store energy for next year. Don’t be alarmed if they start to wither as the temperature gets colder. This is a natural process for them. During the dormancy, keep them in a unheated garage or in a refrigerator. Take them outside in spring when there is no chance of frost. See care sheets for “American Pitcher Plants” and “Indoor Dormancy” or “Outdoor Dormancy” at the courtesy of the NECPS.
