Sarracenia leucophylla "Hurricane Creek White"

from $50.00

As the name suggests, Sarracenia leucophylla "Hurricane Creek White" is one of the whitest forms of S. leucophylla available, and was originally from Hurricane Creek, AL collected by John Hummer. Unfortunately, this site has been developed into a slash pine plantation for pulp production. There are many different forms of S. leucophylla "Hurricane Creek White" available on the market. This form has red flowers. Note that "Hurricane Creek White" plants are not an anthocyanin (red color) free form, and may display reddish color especially in young shoots. The plant will be shipped bare root. The long traps will be cut to fit the shipping box.

Sarracenia are good companion plants to Venus flytraps as they are often found growing side by side in the wild. Like Venus flytraps, they need a cold dormancy during the winter to store energy for next year. Don’t be alarmed if they start to wither as the temperature gets colder. This is a natural process for them. During the dormancy, keep them in a unheated garage or in a refrigerator. Take them outside in spring when there is no chance of frost. See care sheets for “American Pitcher Plants” and “Indoor Dormancy” or “Outdoor Dormancy” at the courtesy of the NECPS.
