Sarracenia X Leah Wilkerson

from $20.00

Sarracenia are North American pitcher plants. They grow in wetlands in East coast of the United States. S. x Leah Wilkerson is a naturally occurring hybrid between S. flava and S. leucophylla called "moorei". Out of moorei plants, this clone is particularly beautiful with white top and contrasting red throat. Because of its beauty, it has been used to produce numerous hybrids. It is a vigorous grower. The traps are most likely cut short to fit the shipping box. The plant will be shipped bare root.

Sarracenia are good companion plants to Venus flytraps as they are often found growing side by side in the wild. Like Venus flytraps, they need a cold dormancy during the winter to store energy for next year. Don’t be alarmed if they start to wither as the temperature gets colder. This is a natural process for them. During the dormancy, keep them in a unheated garage or in a refrigerator. Take them outside in spring when there is no chance of frost. See care sheets for “American Pitcher Plants” and “Indoor Dormancy” or “Outdoor Dormancy” at the courtesy of the NECPS.
