Utricularia calycifida is a carnivorous plant endemic to Northern South America. It grows stolons that produce traps shaped like bladders that attract, capture, and digest microbes. It is a terrestrial to semi-aquatic plant. This particular clone has been grown in a mixture of sphagnum moss and cypress back mulch in plastic net pots. The bottom of the pot is kept in about 1 inch of rain water or distilled water at all times (tray method). This clone seem to like this condition and sends out numerous new growth in the water tray. The cultivar "Asenath Waite" is created by Barry Rice in 2000. The name is derived from the name of a witch from a novel by H.P. Lovecraft.
